Indigenous Sunday, June 20, 2021

On Indigenous Sunday we have TWO services:  we are honoured to have a local RCMUC YouTube service with Tony Snow, Glenda Crawler, Trudy Wesley, Gloria Snow and Ken Levae – already posted to https://youtu.be/TKyBHbL87fo

We are also invited (and encouraged!) to watch the Chinook Winds’ Regional Indigenous Service – also coordinated by Tony Snow, Indigenous Minister for Treaty 7 Lands and Chinook Winds Region.  This service will be available for viewing starting at 10:30 AM on Sunday, June 20th 2021 on the Chinook Winds YouTube Channel, https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCVIl5wMU5TkAVwggyhzGQhg

This year, the National Indigenous Day reaches an important local milestone.  Fifty years ago, Morley hosted the second Ecumenical Conference, and the suggestion was first put forward for an Indigenous Day of Prayer in Canada.  This was quickly adopted by the Anglican and United Churches, and eventually grew into the National Day of celebration we mark this weekend.
