A short congregational meeting will be held on Zoom on Sunday, April 11, 2021 at 11 am following the regular YouTube service. Sign in information will be sent closer to the date. Council has negotiated a contract with Bow Valley Green Energy Cooperative for the installation of solar panels on the south facing roof of Gordon Hall. BVGEC will pay for the solar panels, installation, repairs and replacement, insurance and monitoring the operations. RCMUC will purchase all the solar energy produced by the solar panels. There will be a savings on our annual energy costs and a carbon offset of the carbon caused by 2 cars. The contract includes a 21 year lease of the south facing roof of Gordon Hall. For this reason Council is required by legislation to obtain approval of the lease from the Congregation, the Trustees and Chinook Winds Regional Council. If you have any questions or concerns, please contact Ian Schofield, Chair of Council at ian.schofield@scholaw.ca or 403-813-3773. Due to confidentiality provisions in the contract, the contract can be provided to congregants upon agreeing to confidentiality. The motion is as follows:
UPON MOTION BE IT RESOLVED that the Congregation of Ralph Connor Memorial United Church approve a contract with Bow Valley Green Energy Cooperative for a solar panel installation to be affixed to the south facing of Gordon Hall and specifically a lease of the said roof for a period of 21 years in consideration that RCMUC has the exclusive contract to purchase all of the energy produced by the solar installation.
