September 30 – Orange Shirt Day events

Here are some local events on Sept 30th – National Day of Truth and Reconciliation.

the TOWN OF CANMORE is having an event at the Civic Centre at 12 noon to honour the survivors of residential schools and the children who never returned home.  We will gather in ceremony with our Îyârhe Nakoda (Stoney) neighbours outside at the Civic Centre Plaza (902 7 Avenue, Canmore) to remember in prayer, in dance, in voice, and in tradition.
the TOWN OF BANFF and Parks Canada are coordinating an activity to help people reflect on the truth of the past and discussion on reconciliation for our future, with a moderated panel discussion with local Indigenous leaders, 2-4 pm at Central Park, Banff.
Later that day, the Lux Cinema will have two free screenings of Gord Downie’s Secret Path, at 6:30 PM and 9:30 PM. The Lux is participating in the provincial Restrictions Exemption Program. Proof of vaccination will be required for entry.
