Screenings With Meanings – “Over The Rainbow” (Camp fYrefly)

Join us on Wednesday September 5 at 7:00 pm for this screening in our summer film series.

We will be screening the film “Over the Rainbow (Camp fYrefly”
hosted by the Mikael MSquared & Friends

Discussion will follow the film.

The documentary highlights the true stories of LGBTQ fYreflies and their youth leaders, adult volunteers through the lens of their life changing experiences at Camp fYrefly.
With reference to the beloved classic movie “The Wizard of Oz”, transcendent themes of heart, courage, wisdom, friendship, and important life lessons are explored.
Through focused educational and community outreach opportunities, our goal is to provide a platform in which an enhanced level of understanding and acceptance of members of the LGBTQ community are realized.

Our hope is to share this documentary within multiple educational and community-based contexts to help raise awareness about the complex needs and concerns of LGBTQ youth. Ultimately, it is our goal to help LGBTQ youth move from risk to resilience and provide them with the skills and tools needed to become leaders for positive social change in our province.
