EVENSONG

Evensong, Wednesday September 26, 7:15 pm

Once, long long ago . . .

yet somehow, not so very long . . .

when all the animals

and rocks

and winds and waters and trees

and birds and fish

and all the beings of the world could speak . . .

and understand one another . . .

~ Old Turtle, Douglas Wood

In the silence of the morning,

when the dawn has just begun,

as the moon is softly fading

with the rising of the sun.

If you listen to the sparrow,

and the gentle mourning dove,

there’s a message in the song they bring,

it is peace they’re singing of.

Pacem, singing pacem.

Can you hear the song?

Pacem, singing pacem.

Will you sing along?

In the quiet of the evening,

with the twilight drawing nigh,

there is music in the darkness

as the stars ignite the sky.

It’s the whisper of the breezes

and the owl in hollow tree,

there’s a message in the song they bring

that is meant for you and me.

Pacem, singing pacem.

Can you hear the song?

Pacem, singing pacem.

Will you sing along?

Pacem, singing pacem.

Let the sound increase.

Pacem, singing pacem.

Sing a song of peace.

Sing a song of peace.

~ Pacem, Andy Beck and Brian Fisher
