BVRP – Bow Valley Refugee Project

The Bow Valley Refugee project was formed following a community meeting in November, 2015, to address the Syrian refugee crisis.  In early 2016 it was formally established as an Outreach Ministry of RCMUC, with some 170 volunteers from across the Bow Valley.  We have now successfully brought two family groupings, a total of eight people, to Canmore, are “in process” with five more (including four via “TWION,” below), and are in active discussions on how to effectively support persons displaced by wars in Ukraine, Afghanistan, and elsewhere.  For more information or to donate to the BVRP,  please go to https://bowvalleyrefugee.ca/

Rundle Memorial United Church in Banff also initiated a refugee project in 2018, entitled TWION: The World Is Our Neighbour.  While this project has raised its own funds, it works closely with the BVRP in its plans to welcome a family (hopefully in 2023).
