EVENSONG

Indigenous Relations

Discoveries at the Kamloops and Marieval/Cowessess Residential Schools
remind us of the devastation caused by these Schools and the ongoing, important work of Reconciliation.
Upcoming exploration at Ahousat and Alberni will be at school sites run by the United Church.
This work begins with taking seriously the Calls to Action of the Truth and Reconciliation Commission,
which include specific Calls to the Churches.
September 30, National Day for Truth and Reconciliation ( aka “Orange Shirt Day”) is an important time to acknowledge the realities of
the Residential Schools. For a listing of local/regional events, which continue into October, click here .

INCLUSION

In the same way that Jesus reached out to all people, our faith community is called to be open and inclusive.

As congregations residing on treaty 7 lands, we continue to seek ways to be inclusive of all people of the Bow Valley,
regardless of gender, sexual orientation, age, cultural background, education level, mobility challenges… ALL people!
We are delighted that both Ralph Connor and Rundle Memorial United Church, Banff, are Affirming Ministries.
Canmore’s Pride Festival is from September 16 to 19 and Banff/Lake Louise Pride is from October 3 to 10. Check their Facebook pages for details!
